Reflections

1. One person on this campus who has influenced me in a positive way is Mr. Leung. He taught me that no matter what happens in life, you have to keep trying and never give up. A specific moment that I remember clearly was Mr. Leung helping me out with recommendation letters for a summer program. I wasn’t really optimistic about getting into one of them because it was a really selective program, but Mr. Leung said I had to change my mindset and focus on presenting myself the best I can, and not worrying about the results of my application, but resting easy knowing that I put everything I had into it. 2. My most valuable possession is probably my car keys. I got it from my parents after I got my license, and basically having a car represents freedom for me. After I got a car, I could go anywhere I wanted after school instead of going directly home, and I could hang out with my friends a lot more and my schedule just in general was a lot more flexible. Without my car keys, everyday, I w

Timeline

Freshman Year! First year of high school! I didn't really notice a huge difference from middle school at first, except that everyone looked REALLY tall, and there were a lot more people on campus. I feel like Lynbrook really helped incoming freshman adjust to high school life, especially with Link Crew and all the activities they planned out for us. I also started high school sports in freshman year, joining both the Frosh-Soph soccer team and the JV Track and Field Team. Sophomore Year! Sophomore year I learned a lot more about life in high school, as I continued to do sports and I also decided to join band again, I had done it throughout middle school. I also learned about how hard high school was going to get when I took Chem Honors, which I thought was a very hard class. Junior Year! AP classes! I got the full blown high school experience in junior year with AP classes! I had to study a lot and had a lot of daily homework, causing me to stop doing sports in order to k

Song Lyrics

The lyrics for See You Again by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth really speaks to me. I have watched the rest of the Fast and Furious movies, and because Paul Walker tragically died, this song was dedicated to him. I was really touched the first time I listened to the song, and it quickly became one of my all time favorites. The lyrics talk about a long friendship, and how even when friends go their separate ways, they will always be remembered. It's been a long day without you, my friend And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again We've come a long way from where we began Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again When I see you again Dang, who knew? All the planes we flew Good things we've been through That I'll be standing right here talking to you 'Bout another path I know we loved to hit the road and laugh But something told me that it wouldn't last Had to switch up Look at things different, see the bigger picture Thos

Favorite Novel

My favorite novel is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I read this book back in 7th grade, and I found a lot of the material really useful in real life. Although I didn't really remember a lot of it, the one thing that I remember (and use) today is the fact that people like to hear themselves talk, and it is always better to be the listener rather than the speaker, as it causes people to like being around you more because they get to talk more about themselves. Usually, when you read novels, they have underlying themes and motifs, but they aren't that applicable in real life except for How to Win Friends and Influence People, because I could immediately start applying the advice in my life and see results immediately.
